About Asia Economic Review

Who we are

Asia Economic Review is an English-language analysis journal on the forces shaping Asia’s economy, published from Singapore. We do not chase the day’s headlines; our sister title Asianomist does that well. The Review exists for the layer beneath the news: essays that make one argument properly, briefings that answer one question with evidence, and data assembled carefully enough to be cited. Our test for every piece is simple: would a decision-maker still find it useful in twelve months?

Why “considered”

Asia produces more economic news than anyone can read, and less analysis than anyone can find. Most serious analysis of the region is either institutional (written for governments and think-tank audiences) or priced for institutions. The Review takes a different position: commercial, independent, written for the executives, investors and professionals whose decisions depend on understanding the region, and edited to a standard that earns its place in their reading.

Economics, not politics

We analyse economies, industries, markets and the policies that shape them. We do not publish political commentary: no elections, no territorial questions, no judgment of political systems, in any country. Where policy meets business (a tariff, an industrial subsidy, a rate cycle), we analyse the measurable consequences for costs, investment and markets, and stop there. This is a deliberate editorial position, and we believe it is also an analytical advantage: it keeps our attention on what can be evidenced.

What we publish

Essays are the flagship: long-form analysis on growth and policy, trade and supply chains, money and finance, technology and industry, and energy and climate, each built on one argument, stated up front. Briefings answer a single question quickly and with evidence. Corporate Asia analyses the region’s most consequential companies at strategy level. The Review Interview keeps extended conversations with the people running Asia’s economy on the record. The Long View works at decade scale: demographics, cities, skills. In Focus builds quarterly files on one country or industry. Data & The Annual carries our chartpacks and the Asia Economic Review Annual, our flagship yearly report.

Who reads us

Senior executives and boards with Asian operations; investors and allocators with capital in the region; bankers, advisers and professionals who counsel both; and the analysts and academics who keep them honest. The Review is written for readers who would rather have one piece argued well than ten pieces summarised.

Our network

Asia Economic Review is published by Asia Press Centre Group (APCG), a Singapore-headquartered media network of 12 English-language titles across business, travel, luxury, golf and technology. Our sister title in finance is Asianomist, APCG’s daily on Asia’s economy and markets. Awards connected to the Review are presented with the Asia Awards Organisation, APCG’s awards body.
